I continue to add family trees. Here are more family trees for the owners and occupants of Claremont House and 113 – 117 Church Road in the period 1850 – 1900.
Interesting points
Amongst them are some interesting discoveries.
- Sabrina Poole Bernard (1799 – 1829) owned slaves.
- The likely father of Henry Grahame Montagu (1829 – 1916), also called Henry Graham Montagu (1801 – 1872) was convicted of false pretenses and sentenced to be transported for 7 years. Henry Grahame Montagu (1829 – 1916) had 22 children.
- William Seward LeFeuvre (1833 – 1901) worked for many years in Sri Lanka.
- Robert Vezey (1800 – 1866) and his brother Edmund (1804 – 1872) were coach makers to Her Majesty Queen Victoria.
- Robert Mattingley (1841 – 1871) and Maria Scammell is my (half) brother Phil Scammell’s 1st cousin 4 times removed and lived next door to where we are. See Combe Down cousin coincidence.
- William Franklin (1852 – 1921) founded what became Canford School on Combe Down.
