Obituary For Wallace Brown

COMBE DOWN HEADMASTER

DEATH OF MR. WALLACE BROWN

Mr. Wallace Brown. ' Bonaire,'' Horsecombe View, Combe Down, Bath, who, for the past six years, has been headmaster of Combe Down Schools, died on Sunday at the age of 55.

He was formerly master at Oldfield Boys' School, and. before that, was headmaster of the Somerset Boys' Home.

A native of Hertfordshire, he was well known in Bath for the past 17 years for his work as a teacher. He was especially interested in physical education, and, at the time of his death, was chairman of the Somerset County School Sports Association.

At Combe Down he was senior air raid warden for his district.

Especially interested in bee-keeping and gardening, Mr. Brown was a Fellow the Royal Horticultural Society.

He was closely associated with the Rotary Sports, and with keep-fit classes at Combe Down.

He leaves a widow and a daughter.

The Funeral.

The funeral service took place at Combe Down Church on Wednesday, the Rev. Ernest Roberts, vicar, officiating. Mr. A. E. Scillitoe, F.R.C.O. (brother-in-law), was at the organ.

Clarke (school manager), Mr. John Beake (Batheaston School and Education Society), Mr. J. J, Robinson (secretary of the Bath N.U.T. and acting chairman of the Bath Schools Athletic section). Wr. W. J. Bray (school manager), and Mr R. Newman (secretary Bath Branch of Somerset Beekeepers' Association).

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. G. Mannings and Sons, 1, Wood Street, Bath and Combe Down.
