Obituary For Robert Daniels

AS PROMINENT RESIDENT OF COMBE DOWN

DEATH OF MR ROBERT DANIELS

The death has occurred at his home, 8, The Firs, Combe Down. of Mr. Robert Daniels, a former member of Monkton Combe Parish Council and treasurer of the Combe Down lodge of the Wiltshire Working Men's Benefit Society. He was 81.

He was a prominent member of Monkton Combe Conservative Association, almost from its inception, and always took part in any activity connected with Combe Down.

He came to Combe Down from a village near Chippenham about sixty years ago, and, after
working as a journeyman blacksmith for a time, opened up a business of his own, which he
carried on, with his son until age caused his retirement.

He had been in failing health for several years. His wife died some years ago and he is survived by a son, Norman, who lives at Weston. and two daughters-Violet, who lived with him and a married daughter who resides in the Eastern Counties. His niece, Miss Mabel Symons, who lived with him from childhood, had been devoted in her attention to him during his long illness.

The funeral will take place at Monkton Combe on Saturday, after a service at Combe Down Church.
