DEATH OF MRS. GEORGE SPEAR
Well-known Bath Family Bereaved
Members of a well-known Bath family have suffered bereavement by the death, which a occurred on July 11, after an illness of some two months' duration, of Mrs. Meta Elisabeth Spear, wife of Mr. George Frederick Spear, M.A., LL.B., of The Brow. Come Down.
The deceased lady's husband is a son of the late Mr. George Spear, one of the founders of the well-known firm of Spear Bros. and Clark, Ltd., bacon factors and provision merchants, of Bath, Bristol, etc., and a nephew of the late Ald. F. W. Spear, a former Mayor of Bath.
He formerly practised as a barrister at Bristol but for many years now has taken an active part in the management of Spear Bros, and Clark, Ltd., of which he is a director and the secretary.
His marriage to the lady now deceased took place 28 years ago and there are four children of the union - two daughters, Mary and Peggy, and two sons, George and Richard.
The Misses Spear, of Springfield, Entry Hill, are sisters-in- law of the deceased lady, who
was 54 years of age.
The funeral took place at Holy Trinity Church, Combe Down, on Monday, followed by the cremation at Arno's Vale, Bristol. The interment was at Monkton Combe. The Rev. E. Roberts (vicar) conducted the service.
