Obituary For Julia Martha Farr
WELL-KNOWN AT COMBE DOWN
DEATH OF Mrs. J. M. CAREY
The death took place at the Forbes Fraser Hospital, Bath, on Tuesday, of Mrs. Julia Martha Carey, in her 84th year.
She was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. James Farr, of Combe Down, who was well known in the quarrying industry and from whom Farr's Lane derives its name.
Some cottages built there by him were called Farr's Cottages.
Subsequently Mr. Carey built a house in Farr's Lane called Bath View, where he and Mrs. Carey lived for about 30 years and where Mr. Carey died a few years ago.
He was a well known stone mason in the employ of Messrs, Bladwell, of Broad Quay.
A brother of Mrs. Carey is Commander Farr, R.N. (ret.), who now lives in Pioneer Avenue.
Miss Alice Farr, a sister, died three or four, years ago. Another sister is Mrs. Mills, who lives in Lancashire.
