Obituary For Henry Cross

DEATH OF MR. HARRY CROSS

Bath Decorator Survives Wife Two Months

Eldest son of the late Mr. Harry Cross, sen., the well-known decorative artist, whose work won him wide renown.

Mr. Harry Cross, of Bushy Leas.' Southstoke Lane, Combe Down. Bath, who carried on business as a decorator at Wellsway, Bath, died on. Wednesday in hospital, just over two months after losing his wife.

Mr. Cress, whose health had been poor for some time, and had deteriorated still further after his wife's death, was 62.

In his younger days he was a prominent rugby player, turning out usually for Bath "A" and sometimes for the first team.

He was also a line sprinter and was a member of the Bath and Somerset Athletic Club.

During the present war he had been a popular sergeant of the Southstoke platoon 5th Somerset Home Guard.

His loss will be sincerely mourned by his confreres, who greatly valued his comradeship.

He leaves two brothers—Mr. E. L. Cross, who trades as T. Porter, plumber, decorator and general contractor, at 34, Wellsway, Bath, and Mr. Roland Cross, managing director of the Cross Manufacturing Company, whose wife, Dr. Clara Cross, medical officer at St. Martin's Hospital, is in charge of the penicillin centre the West Country

Mrs. Lily Keir formerly of "Lauderdale," Wellsway, Bath, a sister of Mr. Cross, is the mother of Mr. David Keir. the well-known political journalist, who, in 1939, married 'Miss Thelma Cazalet, M.P. for East Islington, sister of the late Col. Victor Cazalet. formerly M.P. for Chippenham
