Obituary For George Villiers Foster

ILL SINCE LAST WAR

Death of Mr. George Foster of Combe Down

Mr. George Villiers Foster, who died on Sunday at 1, Clifton Villas Combe Down, Bath, had been suffering from an illness he contracted during the last war, when he was in the Royal Navy.

He was a member of the family which conducted the well known drapery firm the site of which is now occupied by Boots, Chemists. Until laid aside by ill-health he was a traveller in the jewellery trade. For several years he had been in ill-health.

He was resident on Combe Down for about thirty years.

Aged 63 he is survived by a son and married daughter - Mr. William G Foster. and Mrs A. B.
Macfarlane. Mrs. Foster died some years ago and two sons predeceased their father. The surviving son is manager of a surgical equipment factory in London.

The Funeral.

The funeral took place at Bath Abbey Cemetery on Thursday morning.

The service at the cemetery was conducted by the Rev. P. E. Warrington (Vicar of Monkton
Combe).

The chief mourners were:
Mr William G. Foster (son), Sergt. D. S Macfarlane (son-in-law), Mrs. A.C Foster (daughter-
in-law), Mr. A. H. Foster (brother), and Messers. H. Foster. Peter Foster and Gordo Fester
(nephews).

Others attending at the Abby Cemetery were: H. Oram, W. Powell C. Creek, H. Vodden and
S. Drew.

Floral tributes were received as follows With love. from Bill; with love, Audrey, Eve and Mae: in loving sympathy. Bert Gert and family; in loving memory. Arthur Nell and family: In deepest sympathy. And Gordon: In loving memory. Lena; with deepest sympathy. Mrs, Macfarlane Renée: deepest sympathy, Dr. and Mrs Chas. Hagenbach; with love to Mr.
Foster Héléne, Frieda and Paul: with sincere sympathy, his old friend. the Vicar of Monkton
Combe; from Ernest, Hilary and Bryan from Fred. Marbs and family Andover: in kind remembrance. Mrs. Wilkinson and Joan.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. G. Mannings and Sons, 1. Wood Street, and Combe Down Bath
