DEATH OF WELL-KNOWN BATH AGRICULTURALIST

MR. CHARLES PLAISTER EXPIRES SUDDENLY AT SWINDON

Much regret has been expressed in Combe Down and Monkton Combe with the family of Mr. Charles Plaister in their sudden bereavement.

Mr. Plaister, who resided at Church Farm, Monkton Combe, died suddenly at Wharf Farm, Wroughton, near Swindon, early on Friday morning. He had been in rather poor health for some time, but had managed to attend to business, and at the time of his death was staying for rest and change with a married daughter, Mrs. Shute. He had been away for about a week.

A native of Somerset, having been born near Weston-super-Mare, Mr. Plaister had occupied Church Farm, Monkton Combe, for 13 years. He previously lived at Bridge Farm, Dunkerton. He was 61 years of
age.

Mr. Plaister succeeded Mr. Wicks at Church Farm, and specialised principally in dairy farming. His wife pre-deceased him six years ago, and he leaves ten children, two sons and eight daughters. He was a member of the Bath and District Farmers' Association and an ordinary member of the Bath and West Society.

In 1901 he was elected a member of the Monkton
Combe Parish Council, and held office on that body for about ten years.

FUNERAL AT MONKTON COMBE.
The funeral of Mr. Plaister took place on Tuesday in the churchyard at Monkton Combe in the grave where his wife is buried.

The first part of the service was read in the parish church, and was choral.

The officiating clergy were the Vicar (the Rev. Montagu Beauchamp) and the late Vicar (the Rev. D. Lee Pitcairn).

The hymns were Rock of Ages" and "O God, our
help in ages past." Chopin's Funeral March was played as the mourners left the church.

The chief mourners were Messrs. Charles and George Plaister (sons), the Misses Elsie, Lily, and Annie Plaister (daughters), Mr. and Mrs. Shute (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. and Mrs. F. Daniels (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. and Mrs. A. Dando (son-in-law and daughter), Mrs. Edwards (sister), Mr. Joseph Plaister (brother), and Mrs. Tutt (niece). Others present were Mr. M. J. Lipscomb, Mr. A. Gregory Wilkinson (secretary of Monkton Combe School), Regimental Sergeant Major King Brain (N.S.Y.) and Mrs. Brain, Mr. S. Daniels, Mr. G. Short, Mr.
and Mrs. E. H. Newport, and Mr. E. Bailey.

The Rev. D. Lee Pitcairn officiated at the graveside.

Wreaths were sent by his sorrowing children, Elsie, Charlie, George, Lily and Annie; Daisy and Ernest: Will and Flo; John and Lizzie, to dear uncle; in affectionate remembrance of my dear brother: M. Mannings; D. S. and W. Davis; the Misses Knott; the farm tenants, with deep sympathy: Mr. and Mrs. F. Daniels; Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Bailey; Mr. and Mrs. E.
Newport; in loving memory; from all at the Manor House, Worle; Mr. and Mrs. Brain; Mr. and
Mrs. E. J. Bodman; Mr. and Mrs. Shute; and Mr. and Mrs. Dando.

Mr. F. G. Fisher, of Combe Down, conducted the funeral arrangements.
