Obituary For Charles Adrian Coates

BATH FOOTBALLERS' BROTHER

Mr. Adrian Coates Buried at Lansdown

The funeral of Mr. Charles Adrian Coates, eldest son of the late Dr. C. M. Coates, of Combe Down, took place at Lansdown Cemetery, Bath, at noon on Thursday.

Mr. Coates, who was only 45 years of age, died in London on Sunday. He was laid to rest in an evergreen-lined grave adjoining that of his brother, Dr. Vincent Coates, who lost his life through an accidental fall from a train at Maidenhead.

Another brother is Mr. Norman Coates, of Wallingford-on-Thames. He is proprietor of the Hotel Beau Regard there.

Both he and the late Dr. Vincent Coates were at one time brilliant members of the Bath Rugby Football Club.

The short service in the cemetery chapel was conducted by Mr. Coates's cousin, the Rev. H. J. Langley-Webb, Vicar of Bishopsworth.

The mourners present were Mrs. Coates (widow), Mr. and Mrs. Norman Coates (brother and sister-in-law), Mr. John and Miss Barbara Coates (nephew and niece), Mrs. Vincent Coates (sister-in-law), Mr. Morton Shand (cousin).

Wreaths were sent as follows: Love to my darling husband, his wife Margery; to our darling daddy, his loving children, Hope, Tony, May and Rose; with fondest love, Millicent and Norman; to dear Adrian, Gran and Bob; to dear Adrian, Barbara, John and Ruth; with deepest sympathy, Mrs. Vincent Coates; Mrs. J. W. Writterson; Mrs. H. J. Langley- Webb; with love and kind thoughts, "Dotie" ; with love, Henry.

The funeral arrangements, both in London and Bath, were carried out by Mr. J. Mitchell, Kingsmead Street, Bath.
