Obituary For Bramwell Keniston Furze

WELL-KNOWN BATH HOTELIER

PASSING OF MR. B. K. FURZE

Widely-known in Bath as a hotel and restaurant proprietor, and as one who had been closely
associated with Manvers Hall, which was damaged in the raids.

Mr Bramwell Keniston Furze died at the Forbes Fraser Hospital on Sunday, following a stroke the previous Sunday at his home at 123, Hansford Square Combe Down.

Mr. Furze, who was 56, was the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Furze. He controlled two restaurants and hotels in the city -in Southgate Street (where he was born) and in Railway Place.

The latter was destroyed in the raids, while the Southgate Street restaurant was badly damaged.

A life-long teetotaller and non- smoker and a keen and active gardener, Mr. Furze was also intensely interested in caravans, and, in his own vehicle, had toured various parts of this country.

Manvers Hall Worshipper

Mr. Furze was a regular worshipper at Manvers Hall, where. but for the fact that it was damaged in the blitz, a funeral service would have been held prior to the interment at Locksbrook Cemetery.

Sympathy in their bereavement will be felt throughout the city for the widow, Mrs. Edith Emily Furze, and for the two sons and one daughter.

Mr. Furze's father was the first treasurer of the Bath Corps of the Salvation Army, and is
remembered for his long connec- tion with "the Army.

A sister, Major W. D. Furze is at the Salvation Army International Training College, London.

Another sister, Miss Ethel Annie Furze, who was at one time associated with her brother in the control of the restaurants, died in September, 1940.

A brother, Mr. Gordon Furze, who emigrated to Canada, is now serving as lance-bombardier with the Royal Canadian Archery in Britain.
