Obituary For Anna Maria Allen

IN HER 91st YEAR

DEATH OF MRS. CHAMPION, 'COSYCOT,' COMBE DOWN

Mrs. Anna Maria Champion, formerly of 4, North Cottages, Combe Down, Bath, and latterly of "Cosycot," Combe Down, passed away on March 21st in her 91st year, and was buried in Monkton Combe Cemetery on Saturday in a grave lined with evergreens.

The interment followed a service at Combe Down Church, at which the Rev. E. Roberts, the vicar,
officiated.

Mrs. Champion was born at Norton St. Philip, and spent her early years on a farm at Hinton Charterhouse. Years ago she was a well-known figure in the villages around Bath. as she was a regular visitor, with her husband, the late Mr. F. Champion, who was a tinsmith, and they used to travel round with the goods he made.

Previous to this, he was in the Army, and part of her life was spent. in the married quarters of the barracks at Exeter. She always took a great interest in military matters.

She loved outdoor life and took considerable interest in an allotment kept by her son-in-law, Mr. F. Patch.

For the last 26 years she lived on Combe Down and became much loved by a wide circle of friends.

She was nursed during her last illness by her daughter, Mrs. F. Patch, who for many years devoted her life to caring for her mother.

Mrs. Champion leaves four children-a son in
Canada, and three daughters.

The family mourners were: Mrs. G. J. Clarke (daughter). Mrs. S. Huggins (daughter), Mr. and
Mrs. F. Patch (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. G. J. Clarke (son-in-law), Mr. H. Walters (nephew), Mr. and Mrs. B. Walters (nephew and niece).

Also present at the service were: Mrs. H. Saunders, Miss N. Patch, and Miss Muir.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. G. Mannings and Sons, Combe Down and Wood Street, Bath.
