The tragic death of Mrs. Alice Muriel Williamson, the novelist, and co-author with her husband of many best sellers, is recalled by the publication of her will.

Mrs. Williamson was found unconscious in her bedroom at the Empire Hotel, Bath, on September 23rd last year, and died the following day, after doctors had made all-night fight to save her life.

At the inquest verdict that she died of veronal poison, accidentally administered by herself, was recorded. It was believed that she had taken an overdose of sleeping draught.

Her property has been valued at £1,111, with net personalty £969, and probate has been granted to Mr. H. Robinson, of Combe Down, who gave evidence at the inquest as to her financial position.

Mrs. Williamson bequeathed her star sapphire ring, her wrist watch, a chain of nugget gold and a string of beads to Mrs. Arthur Goodwin, and the residue of her property to her cousin, Miss Margaret Thomas, of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The will, which was made in 1929, was witnessed by a cashier and typist at the hotel where Mrs. Williamson died.

Her husband, who died thirteen years ago, was Mr. C. N. Williamson.

We understand that Messrs. Fortt, Hatt and Billings will include in their sale at the Auction Mart on April 19th certain effects belonging to the late Mrs. A. M. Williamson, the well-known novelist. These will prove of great interest.
