FUNERAL OF MRS. G. PLUMMER -

Postmistress of Monkton Combe,

The death occurred on Sunday, at 3 Church Road, Monkton Combe, of Mrs. Alice Louisa Plummer, who for 13 years had been postmistress of the village. Her husband has been (since the line opened) stationmaster at the village.

Mrs. Plummer was an esteemed and valued worker at the parish church, and was connected with many organisations, her in connection with work in aid of the war memorial and with all parochial organisations.

Her death has cast a gloom over the whole village; she had only been ill a week. She had been visiting relatives at Timsbury on the previous Sunday and was only taken ill on her return home.

Much sympathy was extended to her husband and her son.

Among the many letters of sympathy received was one from the members of the Monkton Combe Footbal: Club, of which Mr. Plummer is the hon. Secretary.

The funeral took place at Morton Combe on Thursday.

The service at the church was fully choral, the officiating clergymen being the Vicar (the Rev.
P. Warrington) and the late Vicar (the Rev. D. Lee Pitiairn).

As the cortege was entering the church the organist (Mr. Moore) played the Dead March in "Saul. The hymns sung were the deceased's favourite, There is a land of pure delight, and "Abide with me.

As the coffin was borne from the church the Nunc Dimittis was chanted. committal sentences were read by the Vicar.

The mourners were Mr. G. Plummer (widower), Mr. S. Plummer (son). Mrs. John Leakey (mother), Mr. and Mrs. F. Leakey, Mrs. Purnell (sister), Mr. Purnell Mr. Perrett and Mrs. B. Perrett, Mr. A. Leakey, Mr. and Mrs. G. Penny, -Mr. Albert and Mr. Alfred Leakey
(nephews).
