Obituary For Alfred Henry Stockall

DEATH OF MR. A. H. STOCKALL

MEMBER OF BATH ENGINEERING FIRM

The senior member of the firm of Stockall and Son, general engineers, of St. James's Street, South, Bath, Mr. Alfred Henry Stockall, died at 6, Westbury Avenue, Combe Down, on Sunday, aged 67.

Mr. Stockall's father, Mr. Alfred Stockall, who is in his 92nd year, founded the firm in 1886.

He retired a number of years ago and was succeeded by Mr. A. H. Stockall, who had a brother and sister, Miss Stockall, of 12, Summerlays Place, where Mr. Alfred Stockall lives.

Mr. A. H Stockall was a regular attendant at Combe Down Parish Church and was keenly interested in all its activities, both religious and social. He leaves a widow and three daughters.

The Funeral Service.

Many church, parochial and business organisations were represented at Combe Down Church on Wednesday afternoon at the funeral.

The service was conducted by the Rev. E G. Watton, who was Vicar of Combe Down from 1920 to 1930, and is now Vicar of Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire.

The Interment took place at Monkton Combe churchyard.

Included in the church service were the hymns. "Lend us heavenly Father and Thine for ever! God of love, and the Paalm “The Lord is my Shepherd”

Mr. W. A. Bishop, who was at the organ, played "I know that my Redeemer liveth" prior to the service and "O rest in the Lord at the close, following the Nune Dimittis.

The immediate mourners were: Mrs. A. H. Stockall (widow); Misses Kathleen, Marjorie and
Francis Stockall (daughters); Miss Stockall
(sister); Mr George Stockall (brother); Mr George Stockall (sister-in-law); Mr. George
Stockall (nephew); Mr. Fred Elbrow and Mr. Bert Ehrow (brothers-in-law); Mr. E. Bartlett, Mr.
N Waters and Mr. H. Parkhouse (Staff).
